About Glutathione

Glutathione is studied in research on cellular energy metabolism and longevity. Glutathione is the principal intracellular thiol antioxidant; its cysteine thiol group reduces reactive oxygen species and is regenerated by glutathione reductase. It is also central to phase II detoxification and mitochondrial redox homeostasis.

Research Application

Best studied clinically in the context of oxidative stress, liver disease, and immune function; oral bioavailability is limited, which is why IV formulations remain a research focus.

Important to know

Claims circulating online are often not backed by valid clinical data. Treat all information as a starting point for your own scientific research, not as usage guidance.

Tripeptide Glu-Cys-Gly (γ-glutamyl-cysteinyl-glycine); an endogenous, naturally synthesized molecule rather than a synthetic research peptide per se.
As an endogenous molecule it is not subject to drug approval per se; intravenous/oral glutathione is marketed in some countries as a drug or dietary supplement and has been studied extensively in clinical trials.

Sequence and regulatory status data are based on publicly available sources and refer to the compound in general, not to a specific product.

Research Overview

Research on longevity and energy metabolism is primarily supported by preclinical data.
