About HGH

HGH is among the peptides researched in the context of the growth hormone (GH) axis. Binds the growth hormone receptor (GHR), primarily in the liver, activating JAK2-STAT5 signaling to stimulate hepatic IGF-1 production; also directly promotes linear bone growth, protein synthesis, lipolysis, and cellular regeneration.

Research Application

Clinically used and studied for pediatric and adult growth hormone deficiency; of research interest for body composition and recovery, though robust long-term data in healthy adults remain limited.

Claims circulating online are often not backed by valid clinical data. Treat all information as a starting point for your own scientific research, not as usage guidance.

191-amino-acid single-chain polypeptide hormone (somatropin), produced recombinantly and identical to natural pituitary human growth hormone.
FDA-approved since 1985 (first product: Protropin/somatrem, Genentech); numerous approved brands today (Genotropin, Humatrope, Norditropin, Omnitrope, among others) for growth hormone deficiency, Turner syndrome, chronic kidney disease, and related indications. Off-label use is not an approved indication.

Sequence and regulatory status data are based on publicly available sources and refer to the compound in general, not to a specific product.

Research Overview

Numerous preclinical and some clinical studies exist on the GH axis, with evidentiary strength varying by substance.

  • Multicentre clinical trial of authentic recombinant somatropin in growth hormone deficiency. 1987. PMID 3324634
  • Recombinant human growth hormone (Genotropin) in treatment of children with growth hormone deficiency. 1992. PMID 1626447
