About Triptorelin

Triptorelin is among the peptides researched in the context of the growth hormone (GH) axis. Continuous receptor occupancy initially causes a transient surge in LH/FSH/testosterone, followed by downregulation and desensitization of pituitary GnRH receptors, producing sustained gonadotropin suppression.

Research Application

Used to study continuous versus pulsatile GnRH-receptor signaling and receptor downregulation kinetics, and as the reference long-acting GnRH agonist.

Important to know

Claims circulating online are often not backed by valid clinical data. Treat all information as a starting point for your own scientific research, not as usage guidance.

Synthetic GnRH agonist decapeptide: differs from native GnRH/gonadorelin by a single D-Trp substitution at position 6, which confers enzymatic resistance and higher receptor affinity.
FDA-approved (Trelstar, since 2000) for advanced prostate cancer. In the EU marketed as Decapeptyl/Gonapeptyl with broader approved indications (prostate cancer, endometriosis, uterine fibroids, IVF). Approved in Germany.

Sequence and regulatory status data are based on publicly available sources and refer to the compound in general, not to a specific product.

Research Overview

Numerous preclinical and some clinical studies exist on the GH axis, with evidentiary strength varying by substance.
