About Thymosin Alpha-1

Thymosin Alpha-1 is studied in tissue regeneration and repair research, including cell and animal models. Acts via the TLR9/MyD88/IRF7 signaling cascade in dendritic cells, promoting their maturation and modulating the balance between T-helper cell responses and regulatory T cells.

Research Application

Studied as a dual immune modulator — both to enhance immune response in chronic viral infection and to investigate immune balance in sepsis and immunosenescence research.

Important to know

Claims circulating online are often not backed by valid clinical data. Treat all information as a starting point for your own scientific research, not as usage guidance.

A naturally occurring, N-acetylated 28-amino-acid peptide derived from the thymic protein prothymosin alpha. The synthetic version is designated thymalfasin.
Approved as a prescription drug under the brand name Zadaxin in more than 35 countries, primarily for chronic hepatitis B/C and as an immune adjuvant. NOT FDA-approved in the United States; available there only through licensed compounding pharmacies.

Sequence and regulatory status data are based on publicly available sources and refer to the compound in general, not to a specific product.

Research Overview

Studies on regenerative peptides are mostly derived from cell culture and animal models; comprehensive clinical data is typically still limited.
