HeLa cells, cerebellar granule cells) and rodent models describe antioxidant and neuroprotective effects, including reduced free-radical levels, increased cell viability under oxidative stress, and epigenetic modulation of serotonin expression in aging brain-cortex cell cultures.
Investigated in research on oxidative stress, neuroprotection, and cellular brain aging — so far exclusively in cell-culture and animal models (incl. hypoxia, rodent cortex). Not a substitute for established neuroprotective agents and not clinically tested in humans.
