Two Different Timelines: Function vs. Structure
In the most-cited animal study on tendon healing (Staresinic et al., 2003), rats with a transected Achilles tendon received 10 µg/kg BPC-157 daily. Functional improvements – measured by range of motion and load tolerance – appeared as early as day 4. Full structural restoration of tendon integrity, however, was documented only by day 14.
This pattern – fast functional signals, slower structural healing – recurs across several animal models and is one reason why “onset of effect” is not a single number but depends on what is being measured.
A Second Model: Spinal Cord Injury in Rats
A 2022 study (Perovic et al., Current Issues in Molecular Biology) examined BPC-157 in a rat spinal cord injury model and describes gradual functional recovery over several weeks of treatment, both when therapy started early and later. Here too: the timeline comes from a specific injury model and cannot be generalized to other tissue types.
Why There's No Reliable Timeframe for Humans
All the timeframes above come from rat/animal models with standardized, injected dosing under laboratory conditions. No controlled human studies exist that establish an onset-of-effect time in humans – neither for tendon nor for other tissue injuries. Figures for “weeks until effect in humans” that circulate in forums are therefore anecdotal, not study evidence.
