What Was Actually Used in Animal Studies

Nearly all published evidence on BPC-157 comes from cell and animal models – mostly rats, some mice and rabbits. Doses used there mostly range from 6–50 µg/kg body weight, given intraperitoneally, subcutaneously, or orally in drinking water.

The most-cited single study on tendon healing (Staresinic et al., 2003) used 10 µg/kg BPC-157 once daily in rats with a transected Achilles tendon. Functional improvements appeared as early as day 4, with full restoration of tendon integrity documented by day 14.

Why Animal Doses Don't Simply Translate

Simply scaling a µg/kg dose 1:1 from rat to a 70 kg human ignores fundamental cross-species metabolic differences (allometric scaling). Legitimate pharmacological conversions account for surface-area-to-volume ratios and metabolic rates – a simple ratio calculation does not produce a reliable human dose.

Crucially: no controlled human studies of BPC-157 exist from which a validated dose could be derived. Any circulating “human dose” is extrapolation or anecdote, not study evidence.

What Circulates in Forums – and Why It Isn't Study Evidence

Biohacking forums and Reddit (including r/Peptides) frequently discuss specific daily doses for personal use. These figures are not based on the cited animal studies, but on community experience-sharing – uncontrolled, not dose-standardized, and without regard to the purity or origin of the material used.
